Steven "Deadeye" Hartford added Sep 23, 2005
Another Eureka pirate. I was running out of left handed weapons when I got to him, so I mashed and carved a dagger out of one of the pistols. I chose this guy to portray Steven Hartford, first mate of the Severed Thread. He's part of a pirate fleet that one of my players has sworn vengeance on. I wanted to make this revelation as much of a surprise as possible, so I painted the pirates' emblem on Steven's bandanna. It wasn't as clear as I would have liked, as the player had to look at it twice to realize what it was. Even so, it worked pretty well. I did most of the detail work on the bandanna with a pen.

Rachel Caldwell added Sep 23, 2005
This is one of the Eureka Pirate Ladies line. She was chosen by my wife to portray her character Rachel Caldwell in the Freeport campaign. Rachel is the daughter of two notorious pirates and a dangerous fighter in her own right.

This was one of the first crossbow conversions I did on the Eureka minis. Though I didn't get any cannon crew, I did receive several pistol packing pirates that I had to deal with, since I don't use gunpowder in my campaign. As it turns out, The tabs on the bottom of these minis were all a little too long for the bases they were shipped with, so I had to snip off about 1/16" from the bottom of each one. I now had a ready supply of raw material from which to carve bows. Adding piano wire for bowstrings and quarrels, the pistols ended up being passable crossbows.

Peg Leg Pirate With Blue Coat added Sep 23, 2005
Part of the Eureka pirate horde. There's not much to say about this one. I had to do a minor conversion on the pistol tucked in his sash. I cut the handle away from his body with an x-acto knife and bent it straighter so I could pass it off as a dagger.

Dufa, Cabin Boy added Sep 23, 2005
This was part of the Eureka pirate horde. He was perfect for one of the characters in my Freeport campaign who has to this point not made it to any gaming sessions. In his absence, his character has been named, absent, drunk, and generally abused. If he ever manages to redeem himself, poor Dufa may graduate to a less pathetic mini.

There isn't much to say about this paint job. He's drab and dirty, and he's glancing off to the side to see if anyone is coming to give him a beating.

Peg Leg Pirate With Red Coat added Sep 23, 2005
This is one of the duplicate bodies in the Eureka pirate horde, but I think I managed to differentiate him pretty well.

Pirate With Blue Shirt And Spear added Sep 23, 2005
This guy has apparently lost his cutlass.

Blonde Pirate With Red Boots added Sep 23, 2005
Another pistol to crossbow conversion. This is the second of three identical bodies that I've painted in the pirate horde, so I had to make sure I differentiated her from her "sister".

Pirate With Heavy Crossbow added Sep 23, 2005
Part of the Eureka pirate horde. This was the only mini I received of this bunch with a rifle. Fortunately, it wasn't held against his body so the conversion to a heavy crossbow was pretty simple. I carved the bow from spare pewter and built the string and quarrel from piano wire. If you look closely you can see the name "BESSIE" on the bow.
